Have the kids make their own one-of-a-kind snowflakes and see how each one turns out differently—just like the kids!

Instructions

  1. Prepare the white paper by cutting it into squares and rounding the corners or cutting out circles; or, use a doily.
  2. Sit at the table and give everyone a prepared sheet of paper or a doily.
  3. Have the kids fold the paper in half, then in half again.
  4. Have them cut small pieces out of the folded edges.
  5. Have them unfold the paper and fold it again in a different place.
  6. Make some more cuts.
  7. Unfold the paper and look at each unique snowflake.
  8. Talk about how similar they are and how different they are, just like people.
  9. Let the kids dot or spread glue onto the snowflake.
  10. Sprinkle on some glitter and shake off the excess.
  11. Allow the snowflakes to dry and tape them to the window.
